Increased Risk of Rip Currents, Sneaker Waves Along Coast This Week

National Weather Service cautioning beach goers to exercise caution

The National Weather Service is warning beach goers to use extra caution this week due a storm system in the Southern Hemisphere that will increase risk of rip currents and unexpected or "sneaker" waves along California beaches including in Marin and Sonoma counties.

Hazardous conditions are expected along southern facing beaches including Point Reyes National Seashore and Stinson Beach. These include larger than normal waves that could wash unsuspecting beach goers into the ocean. The conditions are expected to last through the Labor Day weekend.
