PCA Congratulates iPad Winner

Petaluma Community Access gave away an iPad in their Spring Sweepstakes, hoping to raise awareness of the non-profit's role in the community. Grand prize winner Dorian Bartley is probably paying more attention.

held a promotional sweepstakes from April  9 to May 14, promising to give away more than a dozen prizes donated by local merchants in an effort to gain more members for their organization.

“Our community members are so dedicated, volunteering to make TV shows for us to share with our viewers, that we wanted to give something back,” said Executive Director at the time. “And if we’re lucky, perhaps we’ll discover new PCA members in the process.”

The non-profit got over 400 entries for the sweepstakes during the five weeks it ran. They even borrowed a limousine for the Butter and Eggs Day Parade, and passed out sweepstakes tickets in the parade -- which is where the winner got hers.

This week it was announced that Dorian Bartley of Petaluma came away with the first prize, an Apple iPad. Bartlett is a musician among other activities, as bassist and singer in The Artifacts and Foxes in the Henhouse.

"I'm just speechless and thrilled," said Barley when contacted by Patch. "I've lived in Petaluma for 24 years and always enjoyed the community spirit, the parade and PCA, who I used to call on to video children's choral concerts during the many years I taught music at the Waugh School District."

“My congratulations to all the winners, and I welcome everyone to come and join us in all PCA activities,” says PCA Board Member Marcelle Guy, who spearheaded the sweepstakes.

The first prize and other awards were donated by board members and local businesses, all in the cause of rasing awareness for the community access non-profit. Like many similar organizations nationwide, PCA has video equipment for producing television programming for public access stations.

Schedules and other information are available on the PCA website. Comcast cable channels 26, 27 and 28 are broadcast by PCA, and includes city council meetings, school board and other education and government programs, as well as citizen-produced programming. On ATT the channels can be accessed through U-verse on channel 99.
