Police Plan to File Charges Against Man Who Left Scene of Accident

Thursday's car accident shut down D Street Extension between Windsor Dr. and San Antonio for most of the day as crews worked to remove the live wire from the roadway and retrieve the car that was stuck in a ditch

Police will file charges against a Novato man who crashed into a power pole on D Street on Thursday, then left the scene, the Press Democrat is reporting.

The accident occurred around 6:30am on D Street south of Windsor Drive and caused live wires to fall on the road, closing the street for most of the day.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Ryan Carrigan, of Novato, crashed in a ditch after losing control of his car as he drove into Petaluma. But he left the scene in a friend's car to go to the hospital and didn't notify the authorities about the accident, who tracked him down using the car's registration.
