"Road Diet" on Petaluma Boulevard Wraps Up This Week

The Petaluma Boulevard South "road diet," which will convert one of the city's main thoroughfares from a four-lane to a two-lane street, is nearly complete, according to the Petaluma Public Works Department.

On Monday and Tuesday night, crews will restripe Petaluma Boulevard South from East Washington to E Street and expect to complete the project by Wednesday. The project will widen each lane and parking spaces and create more space for cyclists, according to city engineers.

It will also adds new turn out lanes so that cars turning on Western, B and D streets are not backing up traffic.
