Sprouts Market Opening Wednesday

Sprouts Farmers Market, a Phoenix-based national grocery store, is opening next Wednesday, May 29 in the Target-anchored shopping center on East Washington Street, the first of about a dozen national retailers.

The 25,000 square-foot store will open at 7 a.m. and give away a grocery bag of items selected by the company to eachof the first 200 shoppers. The first 300 customers will also get coupons for free sandwiches and other promotions. Later in the day, Boar’s Head will give out 500 free hotdogs.

The company has more than 150 stores around the country and sells organic, natural and bulk items, similar to Whole Foods. The Petaluma store has hired around 100 people, mostly for part-time work.

After Memorial Day weekend, Dick's Sporting Goods, is scheduled to open June 7, followed by Target on July 28.
