The philosophy of
Classical and Christian education is based on the Trivium or the idea that
every subject (math, science, literature etc..) has a grammar, logic and
rhetoric element. The grammar of a
subject is its “nuts and bolts” or a group of parts, vocabulary, dates and
other pieces. The Logic of a subject
is the connection between the parts and the understanding of that connection. In
this stage, formal Logic class is taught so that students master the art of
correct reasoning.The rhetoric of a
subject is how it is presented in a way that is cohesive, articulate and
relevant. The arts of argument and persuasion are taught and honed in this
stage. These stages of the Trivium are lined up with the developmental stages of
the child.

"I'm won over every day by
Harvest!
Since the first day we visited, I knew this was the school for our
family. My daughter is in Kindergarten this year and her teacher is adored by
the students and their parents - both past and present. She holds the class
together with a perfect combination of caring and structure in her classroom.
The other staff and the principal are equally outstanding - they know every
student and take care of them with love. I think it's a healthy school that has
the principal greeting each student as they get dropped off. I have heard only
good things about the other teachers at Harvest and it really feels like we've
just been adopted into a great family! Go visit and see for yourself!"

"Harvest Christian School is
a unique school in this area
. I was
just telling my husband this morning how incredibly great it is to know that
all three of our children are at HCS during the day - knowing that they are
loved on, knowing that they are being taught not only amazing academics but
also being shown the value of the truly important things like caring for one
another and others, integrity, serving, and respect. This school is rooted in
the bible and they truly live out the precepts . . . there is a great
importance placed on the complete child: academic, spiritual, athletic and
artistic . . . we feel so blessed to be part of the HCS family!"
