Kids Love to Cook! Hands On Cooking Demonstration, August 9th
DirectionFive is back at the Marin Country Mart Farmers' Market on Saturday, August 9th, from 10:30-11:30 am. Kids and parents will learn to make a seasonal Panzanella (Italian bread salad) with local greens, cucumbers, corn, tomatoes, basil and cheese. This cooking demonstration has hands-on participation and tastings and is appropriate for children of all ages.
The demonstrations and tastings will take place under the big farmers’ market tent. There will be two 30 minute teaching sessions, the first from 10:30-11:00 am and the second session will be just after the first, from 11:00-11:30am. See you there!

Kids will eat almost anything, including raw vegetables, fruit and nuts, if they are involved in chopping, mashing, measuring, mixing, and pouring. DirectionFive (D5), a California-based non-profit organization, works with schools to offer a new model for health education by giving kids the tools they need to make healthy choices. Addressing the health problems that are afflicting today’s culture is a daunting task, but D5’s programs address this problem head-on by teaching kids practical skills and inspiring them to lead happy, healthy, and productive lives- starting in the kitchen! D5 was founded on the principle that if kids are part of the process they will be part of the solution.
