In partnership with the Mulch Madness Program of the City of Petaluma, Daily Acts in collaboration with Sonoma County Master Gardeners you will learn how easy it is to D.I.Y!
This hands-on sheet mulching workshop will give you the skills, inspiration and techniques needed to transform your water-thirsty lawn in the most cost-effective, ecological, non-toxic way possible. We’ll also provide information on Petaluma’s fantastic Mulch Madness program, which provides free mulch, compost, cardboard, an irrigation conversion kit and free native plants from a local native plant nursery to those customers who wish to sheet mulch their existing turf.
You’ll leave this workshop ready to put the sheet-mulching method into weed-subverting action in your own backyard!
Come out and join us, and other inspired community members.
Why? Annually in the US, millions of pounds of pesticides are used and billions of gallons of fuel consumed in lawn care. But there’s no need to rip out your lawn, transport it to the landfill, buy more soil and waste time, money and emissions! By composting your lawn in place, it mimics a natural forest’s process of soil building and provides a host of benefits – saving water and money, building soil suppressing weed growth, reducing herbicide and pesticide use and much more.
