A day of service...Martin Luther King Day 2013

Volunteers from Kaiser spend the MLK day at the Family Life Center

Martin Luther King Day is more than another Monday holiday. It is also a day when people throughout the country join together to work on various service projects in their community.

Yesterday, at the Family Life Center on Kuck Lane, 75 volunteers from Kaiser Permanente facilities in Marin and Sonoma Counties performed multiple construction, painting, and landscaping tasks as part of their MLK Day of Service. They were joined by Family Life Center staff members and students. Rebuilding Together Petaluma  coordinated and managed the event.

By way of background, the Family Life Center is a residential school and treatment center located on Kuck Lane just outside of Petaluma. Without a doubt it is located in an incredibly beautiful location.

The weather, of course, was absolutely perfect for the projects and the volunteers, staff and students took full advantage of the day.  The energy was palpable!

I have included a few photos to give you a sense of the day.  In addition there are 70 additional photos available at MLK Day 2013…a day of service
