Roll 'Em...Cut!...Toyota Films Commercial in Downtown Petaluma

If you see a Toyota commercial and the background looks familiar, now you know why.

I set out early this very damp and foggy morning to meet someone for coffee in downtown Petaluma. The last thing I expected to encounter was a film crew in front of the Petaluma Museum.  Granted, film crews are not unusual in Petaluma but this was the first one I happened to come across.

I quickly learned they were shooting a TV commercial for Toyota and this was their second day in town.  Apparently they were filming yesterday near the Apple Box.

On location filming involves assembling actors, production personnel and managing a great deal of equipment, wardrobes, etc. The number of production vehicles parked on the street was testament to the size of the operation.

And yes, I did hear "Roll 'em" and "Cut" several times. They really do say that! It was quite something to watch and perhaps the photos in the gallery above will give you a sense of the day.

Sometime in the future, if you see a Toyota commercial and the background looks familiar...Yes, it was filmed here in Petaluma.
