Resident Helps People Find Their 'Authentic Selves'

Patch readers told us who the "Everyday Inspirations" in their communities are, and we're sharing their stories and the work they've done locally.

Everyday Inspirations is a series that features people in Patch communities who inspire others through their work, or people who have faced extraordinary situations and grown from them. They have been featured by other people in the community that have been inspired by the nominees.

Name: Dr. Dianna Grayer
Town: Petaluma, CA
Nominated by: Sheridan Gold

Why is this person an "Everyday Inspiration?"
Dianna helps people find their authentic selves. Besides her private practice, she facilitates a workshop, "Stepping Into Fierceness," which helps people identify their negative voices who hold them back, and accept their internal wisdom that all people have, but maybe have lost touch with.

Has the nominee's life been changed in an extraordinary way?

Dianna herself used to be closed down, out of touch with who she was, and wouldn't share herself with the world. Now, through hard work (her own therapeutic process and returning to university to earn her Ph.D.), she is a motivational speaker and performs her own spoken word pieces.

How does this person work to make others' lives better?

Dianna is a role model for others who cannot be authentic in their lives, whether she sees people as clients, workshop attendees, or friends. She is forthright in her opinions and ideas, and because of this, she gives others the tacit permission to be themselves, too. Whoever comes in contact with Dianna and can meet the world more whole.
