Prize Offered for a Farmers Market-Fueled Thanksgiving

How many farmers market ingredients can you use in your Thanksgiving dinner?

A network of farmers markets in Sonoma County is offering a prize for the shopper who can incorporate the most market-sourced ingredients into his or her Thanksgiving dinner.

The Santa Rosa Community Farmers' Market and The Petaluma East Side Farmers' Market say they'll give away a $50 credit to the person who uses the most ingredients from one of the markets on turkey day.

"We will have recipes available along with shopping guides to help you find what you need from the market," the markets said in a press release.

The Petaluma East Side Farmers' Market is open from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Petaluma Community Center, 320 N. McDowell Blvd.

The Santa Rosa Community Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday at the Veterans Building, 1351 Maple Ave.

The full press release from the markets follows:

Santa Rosa Community Farmers' Market and The Petaluma East Side Farmers' Market are having a Thanksgiving Challenge.  We want you to serve your family only the best on Thanksgiving.  Come to either Santa Rosa Community Farmers' Market on Wednesday or The Petaluma East Side Farmers' Market on Tuesday before Thanksgiving to purchase as many ingredients as possible for your Thanksgiving meal from the farmers' market.  Take note what you are buying and from which vendors.

Come to the next farmers' market after Thanksgiving to fill out a card that tells us how many ingredients from your dinner came from the farmers' market. The person with the most farmers' market ingredients wins $50 in market money to spend at any vendors booth. We will have recipes available along with shopping guides to help you find what you need from the market. Shop local! Shop fresh for the holidays!
