In 2010 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Cancer, and I was a serious fighter when it came to defeating my enemy. Recently, I have found out that I have another fight to win, and cancer will loose.
The support locally that I have had is outstanding, and perhaps that is why I returned to this small town, after living in Boston and Los Angeles for years. Let us all remember that our Health System is in need of repairs, but the care we need can be found here in our small community. I was diagnosed in 2010 locally, but decided to be treated at the Helen Dillard Center, part of the UCSF system. Know that the original diagnosis was here in Petaluma, and that the doctors and nurses here in our town should be recognized for their outstanding knowledge as well.
Many people visit our hospital, Petaluma Valley, with the idea that it may be a stepping stone to another. However, if care and deligent doctors and nurses are what you need, then our hospital can provide just that. Traveling to UCSF was my idea, since we are so close to a teaching hospital, but know that if you want immediate care.....success can be found here in our town just as well.
Kudos to the men and women that work long hours at our hospital, and may they continue to provide the services they do to our community.
