Cinnabar Theater sets the stage for Irish cabaret show "A Couple of Blaguards"
"A Couple of Blaguards" - featuring traditional Irish music and storytelling and starring Steven Abbott and Tim Kniffin with live music by YouKali Celtic Band - comes to Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma.
Two-man play features Irish tunes and classic storytelling as it follows the adventures Frank and Malachy McCourt from Ireland to New York City
Cinnabar Theater presents "A Couple of Blaguards," by Frank McCourt and Malachy McCourt.
With Irish tunes and ballads, plus a hearty stew of interesting characters "A Couple of Blaguards" is a rollicking, funny, musical cabaret show that recounts Frank and Malachy McCourt's life in poverty-stricken Limerick, Ireland and their journey to Brooklyn, New York. Professional actors Tim Kniffin and Steven Abbott portray the McCourt brothers and a collection of characters from relatives to rogues, fools and petty tyrants.
"A Couple of Blaguards" provides the humorous upside to Frank McCourt’s best selling novel "Angela's Ashes." The two-man play, written before either brother published their first novels, features classic storytelling, live music by the YouKali Celtic Band, poignant vignettes and Irish tradition as it follows the young McCourt brothers from Ireland to America and tells how they learned to apply lessons from their hardscrabble past to their new lives.
