Where's the Best Spot to Watch the Super Bowl?

Whether you're looking for a party or something more family-friendly, here are some options.

Although the San Francisco 49ers fell short in their bid to take the field in Indianapolis at this Sunday’s Superbowl XLVI, it’s still a fun sporting event that dominates the water cooler talk come Monday morning.

So where are the best places in Petaluma to watch the big game? Here are the bars that throw raging parties as well as more quiet, family-friendly spots.

Let’s say you aren’t really a sports bar kind of person or maybe you have a gaggle of kids along for the ride Sunday who will feel the need to be distracted as you try and watch the game. In that case, Universe Billiards might be a spot to check out.

With a wide selection of adult beverages, the downtown pool hall also features a snack bar and a monster 133” HD TV. There’s also video games, board games, foosball and 23 pool tables. In honor of the Super Bowl, Universe Billiards is offering $2 refills on all sodas and draft beers throughout the game. Give the kids some handfuls of quarters and buy yourself a few moments of enjoying the game in peace while they play. Universe Billiards is located at 246 Petaluma Blvd. N. and can be reached at (707) 762-8921

On the eastside, popular sports bar Beyond the Glory is having a large gathering of football fans, many of whom have already reserved a seat at the bar which includes an all-day, all you can eat buffet with your seat ticket purchase. When we last checked there were very few tables left in the main bar area for the game but the back dining area is open on a first come, first served basis. Beyond the Glory boasts 16 hi-def TV’s throughout the restaurant including a monster HD projection screen in the main bar area. Beyond the Glory is located at 1371 N. McDowell Blvd. and is all ages. For more information call (707) 775-3775

Where can fans of pizza and football gather this Sunday? Mountain Mike’s Pizza is a good choice and they’ll be having several pizza specials going on during the game. They have a wide variety of beers and wines plus 3 large, HD TV sets to feast your eyes upon. Mountain Mike's is located at 919 Lakeville St. and all ages are welcome. They can be reached at (707) 769-8989

Please remember to not drink and drive. Use a designated driver or one of Petaluma’s fine taxi services to get you to and from the game.

Sucks the Niners are not there, but Mcnears should be a good place to go. Suprised the 101 casino is not doing anything special. As for me, house party.

I hope the game will be as good as the commercials today! Begging the question does SEX help Super Bowl commercials sell, read a great article at http://marketing-heretic.blogspot.com/2012/01/2012-superbowl-advertisements-selling.html As far as Madonna at half time .... the best she can hope for is a wardrobe malfunction

If Brady brings the same attitude he brought to the Denver game, the only thing to watch will be the commercials! Mario and John's on Wilson and E. D St. It's a Petaluma landmark, with classic old town charm. Donnie Figone grills up some awesome chicken for a good time to be had by all. Go Giants!

We have failed our kids who are now in their 20s. The jobs they should have are not there and no oneRead More seems to care. What you are seeing is the underground economy, which is how they survive. No, it's not good, but it is how they are surviving. Talk to your Congressional representatives! They want real jobs and real lives!
You are fun!

I think that showing The Hunger Games in this venue is a mistake. These outdoor family film showingsRead More do attract families, and frequently families with younger children. It would be close to child abuse to permit a younger child to watch this movie. Not so sure it would be a good idea for teens either. I believe that this choice was not well thought out. I hope it can be changed to something that would be beneficial for all ages to see. For example, I recommend a film called "Like Stars on Earth" directed by Aamir Khan. A very moving and thoughtful film.
