Putting Butts in Boats All Summer Long!

This summer, get your (kid's) butt in a boat! Like water rats and moles, children love to mess about in boats, and there are so many different kinds. Petaluma Small Craft Center just opened registration for three versions of boating summer camps for people 11 and up! Sprint kayaks called K-1s are for speed, and even though they tip over sometimes, smaller kids aged 11-14, with a low center of gravity, can be very successful. The kayak racing camp runs T/Th evenings 5:15 - 7:00 pm, and Saturday mornings 8:45-11:00, too, so it's perfect for busy families who already have their kids in day camps or want something to do in the evenings and weekends, but don't want a full schedule. The Small Craft Summer Camps, on the other hand, are full-day (M-TH, and 9-12 on Friday), full-variety camps, introducing kids to rowing shells, stand up paddle boards, kayaks and even Hawaiian outrigger canoes. Finally, the M-Th early afternoon (11:00 am-2:00 pm) Introduction to Sailing camp is perfect for ANYONE age 12 and up. You don't need any prior sailing experience, and the little 8' El Toros are perfect for learning or refreshing your skills in. http://petalumasmallcraftcenter.org/butts-in-boats/summer-youth-programs/ PSCC puts butts in boats this summer from the 23rd of June till August 1st.
