NBRC Results of Newport Regatta

The North Bay Rowing Club (NBRC) Varsity Team had a great weekend at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival in Southern California.

In the Women's Single event: Kelly Galten rebounded after a mechanical failure at Head of the American Regatta two weeks ago to take a Bronze medal in Newport. Her time was 20 minutes 02 seconds.  She placed behind the winner of the Head of the American and was only seconds out of a Silver medal.  She races again this weekend at Head of the Lagoon Regatta in Foster City.

The Women's Double event was crewed by Danielle Debois and Samantha Lamos, who missed out on a Bronze medal by 2/100ths of a second (final time 20 minutes 01 second for 4th place)!  They had a great race, although they did have some issues racing on an unfamiliar course and over steered one of the turns, in all likelihood costing them the Bronze and potentially the Silver, which they were within striking distance of as well.  They will get a chance to race the same crews this weekend in Foster City.

In the Men’s Four with coxswain event Matias Kunzman, Matt Kuhn, Logan Wheaton, Julian Honey and Leanne Krautheim (coxswain), continue to build speed and come together as a boat, trimming margins by up to a minute against three crews they had raced only a week before.  They placed 7th overall with a time of 17 minutes, 01 second.

This coming weekend (November 10) North Bay Rowing Club is sending the full team to Foster City for the last race of the Fall for the Club.  NBRC will be racing in 10 different events and for the first time, fielding a varsity and junior varsity 8 in the men’s event.  The Club has also re-opened registration for high school athletes that are finishing their fall sports!  Anyone interested should visit http://northbayrowing.org/juniors-pre-collegiate and contact Coach Will Whalen.
