NBRC takes Gold, and Silver and Bronze in Oregon this weekend.

The North Bay Rowing Club (NBRC) had an outstanding regatta up in Oregon this past weekend.  The Juniors travelled up for their final race before Southwest Regional Championships in May.  The squad competed at the Covered Bridge Regatta on Dexter Lake, Oregon outside Eugene.  32 athletes competed in 11 events and came away with three gold, a silver and four bronze medals.  "The kids have worked really hard all year and results are showing" said Coach Will Whalen.  "It is challenging to travel far and race well and this was our first trip outside of the Southwest Region.  The kids really stepped up and showed me that they are taking things to the next level.  I am very pleased with how every single boat raced and really proud of how our club performed."

The Masters program travelled north as well and came away with medals in three events.  The Men's and Women's 4+'s and Mixed 8+ all took home silver medals.  Next up for the Juniors is the USRowing Southwest Regional Championships in Rancho Cordova the first weekend in May.  Over 2000 athletes from 36 teams will be competing May 2-4th on Lake Natoma just outside Sacramento.  "We are a young, fast growing team" said coach Whalen.  "Many of these kids just picked up an oar for the first time last summer at our Learn to Row Camp and they have come a very long way.  I am very excited for Regionals and looking forward to some great racing."
