I nominate Bridget Twomey. After being the top equestrian in California for many years she has turned her farm into a place where troubled youth can be around animals and enjoy the gardens and calmness of rural Petalima.

I read this and the first person I thought of was Kimberly Conover. With all of the other horrible things going on in the country over gun violence, I didn't, and we shouldn't, forget our own communities travesties. (Not that I want them or really want to remember.) But to remember is to honor. Perhaps we can raise enough awareness that people can actually make change.

With so many people how do we decide? I would nominate Captain Matt Mattei from the San Antonio Volunteer Fire Department here in Petaluma. He has given numerous hours of dedicated service to his fellow community members and fellow fire fighters. He has trained staff and gone on hundreds of calls to help out at all times during the day. All volunteer....he also helped start a water rescue team....amazing.
