18-Year-Old Causes Four-Car Collision on Kentucky

Apprehended by passersby as he tries to get away Saturday night

It was a busy weekend for Petaluma cops with summer-time partying in full swing and plenty of people out downtown.

Officers arrested eight drivers between Thursday and Sunday night for driving under the influence, including an 18-year-old Petaluma man who struck four cars on Kentucky Street near Western Avenue, then attempted to flee before being apprehended by residents.

Jake Lopes was arrested after he struck a car in the 100 block of Kentucky Street around 11pm Saturday. According to police, Lopes then continued driving on Kentucky where he shortly hit a parked car. That collision pushed the car to collide with two other parked vehicles and a tree on the sidewalk.
