By Bay City News

A man and woman were arrested on warrants and alleged drug possession after they were found in a stolen car in Petaluma on Thursday morning, according to police.

An officer was patrolling the 1600 block of Weaverly Drive where he saw a stolen vehicle parked on a driveway around 10:40 a.m., police said.

The car, a red 2013 Subaru Legacy, was reportedly stolen from Hertz listed under the name Lisa Lynch and surveillance was conducted with the Sonoma County Auto Theft Task Force, according to police.

Around 11:30 a.m., three people entered the vehicle and drove away east on Weaverley Drive, police said.

A high risk traffic stop was conducted by units waiting in the area at Ely Boulevard and Willow Street, police said.

Officers detained all three people but later released one person without charges, police said.

Lynch, 51, of Petaluma, was arrested for a $10,000 auto theft warrant.

Michael Lyons, 46, also of Petaluma, was arrested for alleged possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lyons also had a $50,000 warrant for drugs possession.

Both were booked into Sonoma County jail.
