More than 2,500 PG&E customers are without power in Petaluma after a DUI driver in a pickup truck struck a power pole this morning, according to PG&E and the California Highway Patrol.
As of 6:45 a.m., PG&E reported that 2,506 customers were without power as a result of the collision.
According to the CHP, 23-year-old Antone Elias Brazil, of Petaluma, was driving his 2005 Ford F-150 north on Adobe Road, just north of Manor Lane at about 1:45 a.m.
Brazil's pickup truck went off the side of the roadway and collided with a wooden power pole and transformer, according to the CHP.
The collision severed the power pole and knocked out power to the east side of Petaluma.
According to the CHP, utility lines fell onto the roadway.
As a result of the collision, a fire was ignited at Manor Lane, about half a mile south of the initial site of the collision.
Brazil remained at the scene and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail, according to the CHP.
The roadway was cleared at about 3:30 a.m., according to the CHP.
