3 Cited, 3 Arrested During Petaluma Fourth of July Patrols

Three people were cited for fireworks violations and three were arrested under suspicion of DUI during the Fourth of July holiday.

In all, Petaluma Police officers responded to 84 calls for service during the day.
A crowd estimated at 10,000 people watched the fireworks show at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds.

Traffic Officer Matt Capitelli arrested 3 DUI drivers between 9:30 p.m., July 4, and 12:30 a.m., July 5, according to police.

Additionally, on Saturday, July 6, at 5:37 p.m., a passerby noticed a truck parked in the 900 block of Wood Sorrel Drive. The truck had several bullets holes in it, police said.

The passerby retrieved some of the bullets and gave them to the responding officer. The officer noticed a small gas leak, where a bullet had punctured the gas tank. Petaluma firefighters responded for the leak.

Just after midnight on July 4th, there was one report of shots being heard in the same area, officers responded but did not locate anything at that time.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has information on the shooting incident is asked to call the Petaluma Police Department @ 707-778-4372. If you wish to remain anonymous you may call PPD Crime Tips @ 707- 781-1200 or email ppdtips@ci.petaluma.ca.us.
