Advisory: Avoid Petaluma Boulevard North at Western Avenue

Fire department activity in the area has snarled traffic, police say.

The Petaluma Police Department reported that as of 6 p.m. Petaluma Boulevard North at Western had reopened but advised motorists to proceed through the area with caution.  The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports the blaze at Central Market as a two-alarm fire.

Police in Petaluma are warning motorists to avoid part of Petaluma Boulevard this afternoon as fire crews respond to a blaze in the area.

The fire was reported near the intersection of Petaluma Boulevard North and Western Avenue around 3:55 p.m., a police dispatcher said.

Police are providing traffic control in the area and are encouraging drivers to use an alternate route.
