Advisory: Police Activity on Southbound Highway 101 at East Washington in Petaluma

The public is asked to avoid this area until further notice.

Police activity has concluded. All southbound lanes of Highway 101 at East Washington have reopened.

The Petaluma Police Department has issued an advisory asking the public to avoid Southbound Highway 101 at East Washington until further notice.

The activity appears to be related to a robbery that Santa Rosa police said occurred at the Bennett Valley Jewelers at 2700 Yulupa Ave. around 1 p.m. today according to a Bay City News report.
          
The suspects are believed to have fled onto U.S. Highway 101.
          
Petaluma police issued an alert at 1:36 P.M. about a police action
on southbound Highway 101 at East Washington Street.
          
A Sonoma County emergency dispatcher said police requested medical
aid at that location.

No other details were immediately available.
