Another Dead Body Found in Petaluma–Suicide Suspected

The body was found last week, police said Wednesday.

For the third time in a month, a dead body has been discovered in Petaluma.

Police discovered the body of an adult male on the afternoon of Sept. 12 under the D Street bridge in downtown Petaluma, and determined the body had been there since earlier in the day.

"It appears the subject may have committed suicide," the Petaluma Police Department said in a press release Wednesday. "This area is typically frequented by transients. Several years ago, a fence was placed under the bridge to prevent loitering."

Authorities plan to conduct an autopsy to determine more information.

Police added: "Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call the Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372. If you wish to remain anonymous you may call PPD Crime Tips at 707- 781-1200 or emailppdtips@ci.petaluma.ca.us."
