A suspect remains at large after robbing a Subway restaurant in Sonoma Saturday night, police said.

Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Subway sandwich restaurant at 927 Broadway in Sonoma at about 8:40 p.m. Saturday, police said.

When the officers arrived, the clerk explained that a man entered the store wearing a black coat with a hood pulled over his head.

The suspect removed an assault-type weapon from his jacket and pointed it at the clerk and demanded all the money from the cash register, according to police.

After the suspect got the money from the cash register, he demanded money from the safe, but the clerk explained to the suspect he didn't have the combination, police said.

The suspect then fled out the back door with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He is described as a white man in his 30s, with a medium build and brown hair. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Sonoma police at (707) 996-3602.
