By Bay City News Service

An "at-risk" Petaluma man who went missing on Monday was found safe in Vallejo on Tuesday, according to police.

John Thomas Wirth, 49, was reported missing by his family on Monday night after he failed to return to his Petaluma home on his bicycle.

According to police, a Vallejo resident reported seeing Wirth sleeping in public on Tuesday.

Medics transported him to a hospital for observation, but police said he was in overall good health and would be reunited with his family.

Wirth was considered at-risk because he suffered a traumatic brain injury several years ago in a motorcycle accident and tends to become confused, police said. He has disappeared and been reported missing at least twice previously.
