Car Crashes Into Tree at N. McDowell and Transport Way; DUI Suspected

The Petaluma motorist, 19, was arrested for suspicion of impaired driving and hospitalized with major injuries following the 4:37 a.m. accident, police said.

A solo-vehicle crash was reported this morning at 4:37 a.m. at northbound North McDowell Boulevard at Transport Way in Petaluma, according to police.

The male motorist, 19, was transported and admitted to a local hospital suffering from major injuries after his car struck a tree, said the Petaluma Police Department.

The driver, Bryn Hubbenette, from Petaluma, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and a blood sample was taken, police said.

He was released on a citation at the hospital so he could receive medical attention.

Petaluma 911 dispatchers received multiple calls regarding the white 1997 Dodge Stratus, police said.

Arriving officers found Hubbenette inside his vehicle that had struck the center median going airborne before colliding with the tree, police said.

The initial investigation indicates Hubbenette was traveling at a high rate of speed and allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs, police said.

No other vehicles were involved.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Officer Glaviano at 707.781.1256 and reference case number 14-1568.
