Carrillo Tight-Lipped About Arrest

Supervisor Efren Carrillo is back after a nine-day trip to Russia to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Ft. Ross. But he's staying silent on his recent arrest, which has only fueled speculation about what really happened

Sonoma County Supervisor Efren Carrillo is staying tight-lipped about his recent arrest following a fight outside a San Diego night club two weeks ago.

The 30-year-old Carrillo, who has a black belt in karate, was initially charged with felony battery after prosecutors said he beat up a man and left him with serious injuries.  The San Diego District Attorney has downgraded his charges from a felony to a misdemeanor.

Carrillo, who is viewed as a rising star in Sonoma County politics and a likely contender for higher office in the future, had issued a statement saying he only stepped in to defend women friends from a group of "rowdies." But he has not said anything else since the incident, which has fueled speculation about what really happened that night.
