Children Who Fell From Second Story Window Released From Hospital

Had minor injuries only

The two toddlers who fell out of a second story apartment window Sunday night have been released from the hospital, according to Petaluma Police. A 2-year-old girl and her 3-year-old brother fell out of a screened window at Baywood Arms Apartments, at 1116 Baywood Drive.

Luckily, the children fell on a bush  below the window, which first responders credit with breaking the fall. The children received only minor injuries, although the girl was unusually quiet after falling, which prompted her to be airlifted to Children's Hospital in Oakland, while the boy was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial.

Petaluma Police spokesman Lt. Tim Lyons said the screen was securely in the window before the children fell, and that police do not plan to pursue charges against the parents or guardians.
