Collision Involving Suspected DUI Driver Knocks Out Power to More Than 200 Petaluma Homes

Authorities say the driver left the scene of the Friday afternoon crash.

A Friday afternoon vehicle collision involving a DUI suspect left 220 Petaluma homes without power, the Argus-Courier reports.

The outage occurred after a motorist crashed into a utility pole on Skillman Lane near Liberty road at about 12:40 p.m., the report said. The collision felled a portion of the power pole, blocking traffic in directions.

Christian Kahn, 24 of Petaluma, who authorities say was at the wheel of the involved vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to the report.

Kahn left the scene of the accident, walking over live power lines according to witnesses, the CHP told the Argus-Courier.

The CHP, firefighters and PG&E workers responded to the crash.

PG&E restored power to most impacted customers by 2 p.m. according to the report, but about 20 homes near the scene of the crash were without power until 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.
