Coroner's Office IDs Man Found Dead in Drainage Ditch

The man found dead Thursday was identified as 59-year-old Jonathan Leigh Wagers.

The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified the man found dead Thursday in a drainage ditch in Petaluma as 59-year-old Jonathan Leigh Wagers.

Wagers did not have a known address, and his cause of death is pending further investigation, the coroner's office said.

Police were informed around 7:30 a.m. Thursday of a possible body face down in the water in a drainage ditch behind the Town and Country Shopping Center at 1000 Petaluma Blvd. North, Sgt. Ken Savano said.

Police and the coroner's office are investigating the death, Savano said.
