Roundabout Crash Leads to DUI Arrest

Petaluma Police arrest 22-year-old Corona man after Sunday morning collision.

A 22-year-old Corona man was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a crash Sunday morning in Petaluma.

Kevin Williams was taken into custody by Petaluma Police following the 1:15 a.m. incident at Petaluma Boulevard South at Crystal Lane.

Police said the incident started when Williams was driving a Kia compact northbound on Petaluma Blvd South approaching the roundabout at Crystal Lane.

Williams failed to slow down prior to entering the roundabout, causing him strike a curb, collide with a traffic sign, drive over a median and finally come to rest in the center of the roundabout, police said.

Williams' speed was estimated to be in excess of 50 mph, while the recommended speed for the roundabout is 15 mph, police said. Williams and a passenger in the vehicle were both uninjured.

Preliminary alcohol tests showed Williams was over the legal limit. The legal limit in California for alcohol is .08 percent BAC. Williams was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said
