Driver of Lakeville Crash Was on Probation for Drugs

Michael Scott Harmon was arrested Monday on charges of felony hit and run, manslaughter and violating probation in accident that killed American Canyon teen.

The driver who struck an oncoming vehicle early Monday and killed a 17-year-old boy was on probation for various drug charges when the accident occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities say Michael Scott Harmon, a 41-year-old Vallejo resident, allowed his truck to drift and struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on Lakeville Road, just south of Highway 116. The force of the accident pushed the teen’s car into a ditch, where he was found unconscious. The victim has since been identified as 17-year-old Jahzeel Dwayne Forsen, from American Canyon.

But instead of alerting the authorities, Harmon fled the scene on foot. Approximately 10 hours after the accident, he contacted the Rohnert Park police and was brought in for questioning. Harmon has been charged with a felony hit and run, felony manslaughter with gross negligence, and violation of probation.
