Fire Causes $5,000 Worth of Damage to Apartment Complex

The fire was contained to a storage closet attached to the apartment complex.

Firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment complex in Petaluma Tuesday morning.

Fire crews received a report of a fire at a two-story apartment building located at 1134 Baywood Drive at 9:40 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved fire in a storage closet attached to the apartment complex.

The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but fire crews said that rags with cleaning material on them may have built up heat and been the ignition source.

Damage to the building and contents is estimated to be about $5,000, fire officials said.
