Firefighters Battle Small Fire on Second Street

Reported shortly before 6am Wednesday

Firefighters battled a blaze at a Petaluma business Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Second Street.

The fire appears to have started in a small utility trailer and spread to the rest of the industrial structure, a part of which houses Body Works Yoga. Crews forced entry into the building shortly before 6am using saws and found heavy smoke coming from the roll up doors and the eaves of the structure.

The trusses to the roof sustained heavy damage, with smoke and heat damage to the rest of the suite. Smoke also impacted the other occupants of the building, with total damage estimated at $30,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Correction: We previously wrote that Dolce Neve, an espresso machine repair shop, is located at the address. Dolce Neve moved in 2007. Patch regrets the error.
