Four DUIs in Three Days

Drunk driving continues to be a serious problem in Sonoma County; extra holiday enforcement planned

 

Petaluma police’s Traffic Unit is planning several DUI checkpoints and DUI “saturation patrols” as it gears up for the upcoming holiday season.

Drunk drivers continue to be a big problem in the city, with 274 people arrested and charged with DUI this year alone.

In just the past three days, there have been four DUIs including a 66-year-old Petaluma woman whose blood alcohol level three times the legal amount.

Patricia Dailey was driving east bound on Lakeville Highway on Monday, when she rear-ended a vehicle and pushed that vehicle into a third vehicle, according to Petaluma police. The vehicle Dailey initially struck sustained a ruptured fuel tank and fire fighters along with the Department and Petaluma Public Works had to respond to contain the leak.

Dailey sustained minor injuries and was arrested and transported to County Jail. The occupants in the other vehicles were not injured.

Also arrested on Monday morning was Roberto A. Vasquez, 46, and a Petaluma resident, who said he was on his work break. A breathalyzer revealed a blood alcohol level twice the legal amount. On Saturday, 40-year-old Alessandra Johnson of Petaluma was arrested for a DUI went stopped at Ely Boulevard and South McDowell. Johnson’s child was also in the car at the time.

On Sunday, a Ukiah resident was arrested for driving under the influence.
