Heavy Casino Traffic Expected For Three Day Weekend

Heavy traffic is expected at the Graton Resort and Casino over the three-day Veterans Day weekend, the California Highway Patrol said.

The traffic jam along U.S. Highway 101 and on Rohnert Park streets during the short time frame when the casino first opened Tuesday is not expected this weekend, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

Traffic traveling to the parking lot on Golf Course Drive West might back up surrounding intersections, Sloat said. Both the CHP and the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety will have additional officers on duty to respond to congested locations, Sloat said.

Alternate routes for travel in Rohnert Park are state Highway 116 in Cotati to Stony Point Road, Todd Road to Stony Point Road, Old Redwood Highway in Penngrove and Santa Rosa Avenue to Petaluma Hill Road.

Beside the main Wilfred Avenue/Golf Course Drive West entrance to the $820 million, 334,000-square-foot casino, motorists can get there on Redwood Drive to Business Park Drive, Rohnert Park Expressway to Labath Avenue to Business Park Drive and by state Highway 116 to Stony Point Road to Wilfred Avenue/Golf Course Drive West, Sloat said.

There are three entrances to the casino itself, a three-story parking garage and outdoor parking.
