Update: Escaped Inmate Captured

Update: 10:44 a.m.: Authorities captured escaped inmate Michael Edward Greene Jr., 38, at a home on the 1600 block of Moraga Drive, in Santa Rosa. 

A multi-agency task force surrounded the home at 12:40 a.m., Friday, and took Greene into custody without incident. 

The residence where Greene was arrested was less than one-half mile from where he was last seen at the Sonoma County Fair. 

Greene was booked at Sonoma County Main Jail for the escape. He is being held without bail.

Deputies are searching for a minimum-security inmate who escaped while on a work crew at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, deputies said.

At about 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Michael Edward Greene Jr., 38, escaped by walking away from an inmate work crew assigned to the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, sheriff's deputies said.

Greene was a minimum-security inmate housed at the North County Detention Facility, deputies said. He had been in custody since February for miscellaneous drug-related charges, burglary and theft, according to sheriff's deputies.

Greene had a release date of June 2015. Anyone with information about Greene's whereabouts is asked to contact the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office at (707) 565-1603.
