July 3 Checkpoint in County Netted 61 Arrests: 4 DUIs; Others for License, Drug Offenses

News from the Petaluma Police Department:

On Thursday night, July 3, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. Friday morning, the Sonoma County AVOID the 13 Task Force conducted a DUI and Driver’s License Checkpoint in the City of Santa Rosa.

The checkpoint was northbound Morgan Street at 5th Street.

The checkpoint recorded the following activity: 

1,256 vehicles passed through the checkpoint 
1,219 drivers were screened by officers for signs of DUI or license violations 
106 drivers were sent into a secondary evaluation area for further investigation 
61 drivers were arrested 
4 drivers were arrested for DUI 
13 drivers were arrested and cited for driving on a suspended license 
41 drivers were arrested and cited for driving without a license 
1 driver was arrested for possession of methamphetamine 
2 drivers were arrested for outstanding warrants 
8 vehicles were impounded for 30 days
