Loaded Guns Found Near High School in Santa Rosa

By Bay City News Service

A man walking his dogs in Rincon Valley Community Park last week found two loaded, semi-automatic handguns near Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

The man discovered the guns in a cloth bag at the park, located at 5108 Badger Road, around 4 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's officials said.

His dogs alerted him to the bag, which was next to a fence that surrounds the high school's baseball field, according to the sheriff's
office.

The man turned the guns over to Sonoma County sheriff's deputy who is his neighbor.

One of the guns is a .40-caliber Glock handgun that was stolen in Cloverdale. Authorities are still investigating the origin of the second gun, sheriff's officials said.
