Man Arrested After Threatening to Kill Roommate Over Back Rent

Happy Singh, 32, charged with assault with a deadly weapon

A Petaluma man was arrested Monday night after he threatened to kill his roommate in a dispute over unpaid rent, according to the Petaluma Police Department.

Happy Singh, 32, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after he appoached his roommate with a knife after getting into an argument in their home in the 1100 block of Baywood Drive shortly before 11pm Monday.

According to police, Singh was not paying rent, but got upset when his roommate approached him about it. He pulled out a large kitchen knife and threatened to kill his roommate with it, but was disarmed by a third roommate. Singh then picked up a lamp and attempted to hit the victim with the lamp, according to police.

However, when police arrived, Singh stopped and was arrested without incident. Singh was booked into Sonoma County Jail on $30,000 bail.
