Man Arrested After Trying to Sell Stolen Car from Gas Station Parking Lot

Found with stolen mail

A Santa Rosa resident was arrested Wednesday night after he was found trying to sell a stolen Mercedes from a gas station on the corner of Casa Grande Road and Lakeville Highway.

Evan Gregory, 41, was apprehended after a gas station employee contacted police about suspicious behavior. A records check showed the vehicle had been stolen from Santa Rosa, but by the time police arrived Gregory had left the parking lot.

He was arrested after he returned to the gas station without the car, but with the key in his possession. The stolen car was found parked on the 5900 block of Lakeville Hwy. Police also found stolen mail from the neighborhood in Gregory's possession. He was booked at Sonoma County Jail.
