Man Arrested Trying to Break Into Shelter With Knife
The man had been told he couldn't re-enter the shelter in the middle of the night, police said.

A 51-year-old man was arrested this morning for trying to break into a shelter in Petaluma, police said.
Officers responded to report of a suspect trying to break a window at the Mary Isaak Center at 900 Hopper St. at 2 a.m., according to Petaluma police.
The suspect, who was identified as Keith Service, had apparently just left the shelter and was told he could not re-enter in the middle of the night, police said.
Service allegedly broke a window with a large knife and threatened to kill a resident inside, police said.
Arriving officers found Service climbing halfway through the broken window, police said.
He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism and booked into Sonoma County Jail.
