Man Found Dead in Marina May Be Person Reported Missing From Boat

Petaluma police called in divers, who found a man's body in the Marina Sunday morning.

Petaluma Police said they believe a man found dead in the Marina Sunday may be the person reported missing from a boat Friday afternoon.

The man was reported missing at 1:50 p.m. Friday. He was described as an elderly man who lived aboard a boat.

After they couldn't find him, police called in the Napa County Sheriff’s Dive Team, which located a deceased man in the Marina at 7:46 a.m. Sunday.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Coroner responded and removed the body. An autopsy will be done to confirm the identity of the body and possibly determine a cause of death. 

The man's name will not be released until family members have been notified. At this point police do not believe the death is suspicious. Petaluma Detectives will be reviewing the case and following up with witnesses.
