Man Struck on Head with Metal Bar in Attempted Robbery

Happened Monday afternoon, just blocks from Petaluma library

A man was struck on the head with a metal bar and robbed Monday afternoon as he was walking on Edith Street at Washington Street, several blocks from the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, police said.

A man and a woman in a red Chevrolet truck pulled up to the victim and both approached him around 4pm. The woman struck the victim on the head, while the man pulled his backpack off of him. The other man fought back and was able to retrieve his backpack.

Both suspects fled the scene eastbound East Washington in the red Chevrolet pickup truck and have not been located. They are described as a White man, between 30 and 45yrs old, 5’9, 180 lbs. with black hair, a thick mustache and goatee. The other suspect is a white woman in her 30’s, medium build with tattoos on both arms.
