Man Wanted After Shooting at Car Tuesday

A man chased after a car and fired at it, a witness told police.

Police in Petaluma are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man who shot at a car Tuesday night.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a car in the area of Petaluma Boulevard South and Mountain View Avenue at about 10:10 p.m., police said.

Witnesses told police that two cars were parked and a transaction took place, then a man ran up to one of the cars - a silver Pontiac - and began pounding on a window, according to police.

The Pontiac fled the area and the man chased it, police said.

He then pulled out a handgun and fired two rounds at the car. The man then got into a silver SUV and fled the area, police said.
