Man Wanted in Westside Home Invasion Arrested in East Bay

Found with stolen car, methamphetamine, burglary tools and a weapon

The man who broke into a Westside home February 2, but fled after encountering a resident, has been apprehended in El Cerrito.

Shane Michael Bugnatto, 22, was arrested Feb. 26 after he failed to stop when being pulled over by El Cerrito police and then tried to flee on foot.

Last month, Bugnatto allegedly broke into a home on Olive Street and was preparing to steal items when he encountered a woman who lived in the home and who screamed when she saw him. Police were able to lift fingerprints off a window and match them to Bugnatto in a national database.
