A small sedan was pinned under a large dump truck, but the male driver escaped serious injury.

A man was extricated from a car pinned under a big rig on northbound Highway 101 near Petaluma, sources said Tuesday afternoon, but his injuries appeared to be minor.

Northbound midday traffic backed up well into Novato as first responders tended to the driver of a four-door Nissan Sentra that collided with a red dump truck and trailer at 2:44 p.m. near Kastania Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Sig alert was issued at 3:03 p.m. and all lanes were reopened at 3:32 p.m.
